A Short Ramp Walk – ‘About Me’
Hey there, fellow fashion lovers! I’m Courtney Edwards, usually dashing through the winding streets of Paris, coffee in hand, still a little amazed that this is my real life. Right now, I get to call myself a fashion designer at a legendary brand. Honestly, that never gets old, and sometimes I have to pinch myself just to be sure I’m not dreaming.
My journey to Paris started off so normal it’s almost funny. I was minding my own business one afternoon when my phone buzzed with an unknown number. Usually, I’d ignore it, but something told me to answer. Next thing I know, I’m being told I made it to the final interview round for my dream job, the opportunity I’d pretty much already written off. Fast-forward, and suddenly I’m living out all my Parisian fantasies, racing down Rue Saint-Honoré at 8 AM, clutching my Americano and trying not to spill a drop.
Thinking back, I guess you could say my story is as old as my mom’s sewing machine. She picked it up just a few days after I was born, hoping to try something new. Growing up, I’d watch her sewing for at least an hour every day, practicing and getting better, until plain fabric turned into beautiful things right before my eyes. Back then, it never crossed my mind that those afternoons, spent bathed in the gentle whir of the machine, were actually shaping my future. It snuck up on me, bit by bit.
I’ve always been a bit of a dabbler. Nothing ever held my fascination for too long. But one day, while figuring out my university plans, fashion design popped onto my radar. I figured, why not try it? A few months into the course, I was hooked. There’s just something magical about seeing your ideas go from sketch to something real you can wear.
After graduation, I dove headfirst into every fashion job I could find, big names, small studios, internships, and part-time gigs. Every experience was a new lesson, another stitch in a much bigger picture, all leading me closer to my goal of becoming the best designer out there. And now here I am, in the heart of the fashion world, soaking it all in.
Paris itself can be overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like everyone here was born knowing everything about fashion and style. I still have so far to go, but each day brings its own inspiration and new challenges to dive into. If you’re into stories about style, chasing your passions, and turning wild dreams into reality, I’m glad you’re here. This adventure is just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where it leads next.
